D’Amour Advances to the Semifinals at the 2023 CAC Games

Nicholas D’Amour CAC Games
Nicholas D’Amour of Team ISV showcased his archery skills against Christel Nicolas from Martinique during the Men’s Recurve elimination round on Tuesday. This thrilling matchup took place at the Merliot City Archery Range in the heart of the San Salvador 2023 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in El Salvador.

D’Amour emerged victorious over Nicolas (Martinique) with a score of 6-4 in the round of 16. His cumulative point total of 140-127 meant D’Amour advanced to the elimination round—this time, the round of eight.

In the subsequent round, D’Amour was pitted against Angel Gonzalez Reyes of Puerto Rico. D’Amour defeated Gonzalez Reyes (Puerto Rico) 6-2, scoring 114-109, which allowed D’Amour to progress to the quarterfinals, where he would face Javier Vega Valle of Cuba.

In the high-stakes Quarterfinals, D’Amour and Vega Valle (Cuba) found themselves locked in an intense contest, tied at five points each. This led to a nail-biting one-shot shoot-off—an arrow that would send the victor to the Semifinals. D’Amour, shooting first, hit the bullseye for a perfect 10 points. Vega Valle, needing at least a 10 to maintain a tie, fell short with an 8-point shot that cost him the match.

Having secured his place in the Semifinals, D’Amour, who is currently seeded #3 in these CAC Games, is set to face #2 seed Hugo Franco (Cuba). The winner will proceed to the Gold Medal round, while the loser will have a chance to compete for the Bronze.
